Because everyone has a foxy side, This Lanvin collection created a new personality of a mysterious man with lots of dreams and charm but also lots of confidence in who he is. One of the collection where you don't see one same suit or one same pants width on all. Slim ankle pants, sometimes zipped at the ankle walked the runway next to wide cut trousers and nothing felt wrong, the entire show was very homogeneous and full of energy like Lucas Ossendrijver, Lanvin menswear designer, said about the collection: "Surreal, subversive, but where there is tension, there is energy."
Yes there was something surreal about this collection where the Man was so present and where the face of the man was the only enlightened part of the silhouette. None of the looks killed the personality of the model wearing it, the layers where only another way to focus on those faces, to make it stand out in a world of shades of gray, of heaviness and of structure. Even the tailoring was different, the darkness of this world changed the way, the old way, of tailoring men cloth; it was more the "Tailoring used in a sportswear way" like Ossendrijver explained. Alber Elbaz added "where uptown and downtown meet but not in midtown. We hate midtown" and don't we all hate midtown?
Coats reached a new level, a new concept a new usage: they are not anymore the big jacket you wear, they are fitted like any slim jacket or cardigan and soft looking with all the hardness and sharpness of their cutting, and to close them, who needs buttons? just use some magnets.
The new look at Lanvin is the fitted, slim torso combined with the wide pants described by Elbaz as "the return of elegance, the word is always being used to describe old people. When you talk about the young, it's always cool or sexy, but we wanted to introduce elegance to the young" and they succeeded i believe. This young confident cool, elegant new man would dress up and walk the street and look like a star from another world, hiding under his fedora, or bringing out his beauty wearing his buttoned up white shirt with a turtle neck knit underneath or even hanging a foxtail on his waist "because everyone has a foxy side" in him like Ossendrijver said.
